About Us
Welcome to season 2012 with the Mt Eliza Meteors Basketball Club. We extend a warm welcome to new players and existing/returning players and their respective families.
The Meteors is a not for profit organisation run by volunteers with the aim of providing primary school childern with the opportunity to play basketball.
Our objective is to be a vibrant club, supported by excellent coaches, team leaders and committee members all drawn from the local community.
Mt Eliza Meteors Basketball Club gives children the chance to participate in this excellent sport, in a safe environment, promoting team involvement in which each child can grow. It is, and always has been the club’s official standing that individual children are not graded and team selected through their abilities. Primary school team sports main focus is on building confidence and skills, helping to instil a ‘can do’ attitude within each child.
All new players are warmly welcomed to existing teams or have the chance to build rapports within a new team. In 2011 we have 171 players in 22 teams between Grade 1 and 6, the club is continuing to grow. We have three teams above Grade 6 affiliated with the club.
Teams train at Mt Eliza Primary School’s hall (corner Wooralla Drive) during the week, with teams playing on a Saturday at either Frankston (Bardia Ave) of Langwarrin (Warrandyte Rd) Basketball Centres.
If your child’s uniform has not been organised please contact our Uniform Officer so arrangements can be made. Second hand uniforms may still be available for purchase. In the coming weeks there will be the opportunity to purchase a Club warm-up jacket for your child. This is not a compulsory uniform requirement, however, many children like opportunity to display club involvement, and do so proudly.
It is understood that at the time of registration families had read and have an understanding of participant, spectator and coach (where applicable) codes of conducts. Any concerns or queries throughout the season can be directed to our Liaison Officer. Unresolved issues will be brought to the committee.
